I’ve been holidaying on Straddie for over 40 years and this is definitely my favourite place I’ve stayed… for so many reasons!
Location – absolutely! You can walk everywhere and Cylinder is so close I could spot my kids hot pink rashie in the flags. Which also tells you the view is awesome. Ocean as far as the eye can see.
Luxurious – yes! But not ostentatious, it feels like a home. A beach house in the truest sense of the word because you can still put your feet up and relax.
It also has everything you need and a few more things you probably didn’t even know you needed, but you’re glad they have (including a great movie collection that kept all ages entertained). There’s space and time out for everyone, really comfortable for a family and even better when extra visitors come to stay (and don’t want to go home). I honestly love this home so much and cannot wait to go back. I’m so glad the owners decided to share it!

This is one of the most beautiful and accommodating houses on the island - effortlessly spacious and warm. Not to mention that being able to play a Steinway on Minjerribah is heaven. My idea of paradise.

We had the most amazing and relaxing family getaway. There was plenty of room and fun for everyone and more. A great location with the most spectacular views looking over Cylinder Beach. We loved that we were walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Everything is so calm, relaxing & easy. The hardest part is leaving. We will be back in a heart beat. Thank you!

“A combination of comfort and luxury.”
We recently stayed in this spacious property on North Stradbroke Island and as soon as you walk through the front door you know this is a special vacation rental. The house itself is huge, welcoming and airy - great for large groups or a couple of families. If it gets a bit warm there are fans and air-conditioning throughout. The décor and furnishings are first class and the whole effect leads to a combination of comfort and luxury.
There are three levels each with their own outdoor living areas. The lower level is fantastic for children with 3 sets of bunk beds, TV and enough games to avoid boredom. Kids will enjoy riding the three levels in the lift. Yes it does have a lift. The top (main bedroom) and middle levels (3 bedrooms) have spectacular views over Cylinder Beach where you can watch the amazing ocean life. The top level deck facing North has an awesome outdoor BBQ kitchen where we prepared every meal. Spotting dolphins is a daily occurrence and there’s opportunity for whale watching in season - all from the comfort of the deck. The views don’t get much better than this.
The location is ideal with a short walk down to the patrolled surf beach of Cylinder Head, or a quick walk to the famous Straddie Pub. House location is approximately 3kms to the fabulous North Gorge Walk at Point Lookout where great cafes and places to eat are also located.
The owners responded to all our requests promptly and provided plenty of information on the house and Straddie in general prior to our stay at their property. This vacation rental is fully kitted out with all the basics and then some. They even have fishing rods, beach chairs, surfboards, boogie boards and countless other items to utilise during your stay.

“Truly amazing house with a spectacular view.”
I have so many good things to say about this house and the location. Firstly the view is breathtaking and the house has been designed with lots of windows, doors and a large deck to maximise this outlook.
It is split over 3 levels with an amazing children's entertainment area on the bottom level which gave us all our own space to fully relax. The garage is equipped with everything you could want for a beach holiday, surfboards, boogie boards, beach sun shelter, fishing rods, beach towels, sunscreen and the list goes on.
Each level opens onto a deck or outdoor area. The second level deck has a shower and sink which was very handy when everyone wanted to get the sand off them after a swim at the beach. Having two decks also meant we had a place to hang our wet beach towels without disrupting our view on the top deck.
The location was convenient to everything. The Straddie pub was a very short walk and the beach was an easy walk even for our 6 year old. The local store was a short drive (you could walk it if you wanted).
We have stayed many times on Straddie but I don't think we would want to stay anywhere else now that we have experienced this house and the wonderful hospitality of the owners.

“Top home, in a top location.”
We had an awesome break with family and close friends. Cylinder (and the pub) are an easy walk and there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The view is one of the best on the island and while I loved the BBQ area - the real cooks loved the kitchen and all the extras!

“What an absolutely amazing holiday home.”
From the moment we arrived we were in a whole new world. We took the lift up to the top level and OMG the view from the deck out to Cylinder beach is spectacular. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to prepare meals for a family or families. The bedrooms have all the comforts needed, making it feel like home. The bathrooms were clean and pleasant. It was great having a washing machine and dryer. The Straddie Hotel is just a short stroll as is Cylinder Beach. No need to take the car out unless you want to drive on the beach. We can’t wait to come back in winter to watch the whales heading north.

My family recently stayed with our friends and their kids. What an unbeatable location - incredible ocean views, so close to Cylinder Beach, and a healthy walk into the village centre for home-made gelato. There was heaps of room in the house for everyone, no shortage of linen, and kitchen was fully equipped to cook for the masses. Totally recommend this place for family groups wanting a bit of luxury too. We can’t wait to come back again.

“Everything to accommodate our large group.”
The house is stunning and has a great holiday ambience, starting with the ocean views from the upper deck - almost 180 degrees - EPIC! The interior is lovely - lots of natural light and open space - very comfortable and clean. Such a relaxing place to be. It had everything to accommodate our large group of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids) including bbq, coffee machine (cafe quality!) and dishwasher - what more do you need? And we were so conveniently close to the beach, walking trail, gelato, restaurant. The only time we used the car was to go 4WD’ing on Flinders Beach. This’ll be our go-to place when we visit Straddie now. Thanks for an immensely relaxing and enjoyable stay.
